I have to admit, my one caveat last night when talking to a friend was "Man, Toyota looks like they are just walking away with this one, Let's see how they fuck it up" And lo and behold I was right. From F1 to WEC, they have been their own worst enemy. I want to know where you all think this comes from. Does Audi just have the Experience, or is Toyota just not cut out for racing after all of this?

I was really rooting for Toyota. Since I have one. But damnit. They screw up to much.

Many teams don't finish on their first LM24 it is a learning experience. Toyota will return and challenge again. Will they win? Dunno....Audi does have the experience but it is only a matter of time.

Since it was an electrical failure that/wiring harness fire you can't really place the sole blame on them until the cause of the short can be identified. Lets just chalk that one up to bad luck. I was also asleep when the other yota crashed out so I don't really know what happened, if the driver was just flying down the road on slicks in the rain, or if he had rain tires on and just ran into shitty 3 wide traffic and lost it trying to not slam into the back of the slow traffic.

This was also the first year of the new cars and 24 hour races at Sarthe are ridiculously hard on cars, just look how many teams had to retire, just like Porsche.

There is a reason why Audi brings at least 3 cars to Le Mans. You can bet Porsche brings 3 cars next year.

There's a reason why Audi and Peugeot always brought three or four cars each. Attrition. Toyota can make a good LMP1. The TS030 gave Audi something to think about last year and the TS040 won at both Silverstone and Spa. At Le Mans, it comes down to luck. They said it best in Truth in 24: "You don't win Le Man, you outlast it." Porsche got lucky with how long the 919s ran too.

I was a couple of years for Audi who at the time did not face the same factory commitment from other teams. The other teams were on their way out. It took Peugeot several years (with a really fast car!) to actually win the 'home' race. If they stick to it for 4-5 years, it will come to them.

I understand this. Toyota will take what they learned from this race and use it to build a better car for next years race. They should still field 3 cars though like Audi does. But LMP1 seems like it will be getting exciting again with Nissan jumping back into it next year. I just wish the noses of the cars looked better. Lots more interesting stuff should be happening in the WEC.
